October News

Our trip round the Highlands and Islands of Scotland this summer really inspired us to redecorate our Badminton room. As with our other rooms, we feel that comfort, style and practicality are equally important… and we are really pleased with the results. A beautiful, new minimalist en-suite shower room was installed last month and the bedroom redecorated in a soothing shade of celadon green (Paint & Paper Library Reef), which looks super with the oak floor and wooden furniture, and pulls in the green of the garden that this room overlooks.

Also new, is our updated breakfast menu (see our breakfast menu page). This was inspired by finding new suppliers, namely the Isle of Ewe Smokehouse in Aultbea, Scotland, and butcher,  Jon Howell in Chipping Sodbury. We changed our coffee from a Peruvian Oro Verde  to a delicious Indian Bibbi, both from our fabulous supplier Another Coffee. We can really taste the difference, and hope you will too.

Everyone who has stayed here knows my love of cookery books. I was very good last year and had a clear out when I ran out of bookshelves, keeping 80 favourites! I have been extremely selective since then about adding to my embarrassingly huge collection. However, I have made an exception for Diana Henry’s ‘Simple’ cookery book. This has been a pleasure to explore and provided welcome inspiration for new meals – her chicken and mango curry is exceptional! I am looking forward to trying many more from this fantastic book and will keep you updated.
